It's funny how I'll find a band I kind of like right around the time they break up. Ok, so according to their website, they haven't broken up: they are on hiatus. Anyway, today I'm talking about Stephen Kellog & the Sixers. I've had some of their music for awhile from Daytrotter and NoiseTrade. It's good; it's not exactly one that has grabbed my attention and I've run home to tell you about them, but it's still pretty good.
They have a kind of country sound, which I like a little, but bugs me a little. I like banjo music, but their sound is a little cheesy to me in some songs. I really like "The Bear". "Gravity" is good too... "Shady Esperanto and The Young Hearts" also.
So, if they stick around I'll listen some more. I know Stephen Kellog is doing some solo stuff too, so that's promising.
